


The meeting point is the Stables Education Centre. If you want to take part for the first time then please arrive 10 mins early in order to register. Some people like it so much they do both walks! Teas/coffees are available afterwards. Walks are well-attended, with 40 people joining most weeks. This social group meets all year round at 10am every Thursday morning, with the slower walk starting at 10.30am. With the slower, second walk, we offer a shortcut back to the base if needed. Each walk lasts around 30 minutes and covers about 1.5 miles. The first is slightly faster while the second is more leisurely, accommodating people who are not so fit or are newcomers to the group. We have an enthusiastic group of trained volunteers who lead our two, weekly health walks at Wandlebury, supported by funding from Local Giving. To the north you can walk along the historic Roman Road and to the south you can cross the A1307 to explore the paths at Magog Down. If that's not enough, you can join the public rights of way network to explore the surrounding Gog Magog Hills.

You can pick up a free leaflet from the noticeboard at the car park (or from the information centre near the toilets) which shows the paths and there are some finger posts - but it is a great place to just wander and make it up as you go. The paths are mostly flat and without barriers but only a short section near the car park is surfaced. Following heavy rain, sections can be very muddy, especially in winter. The Riverside Walk is open all year round but paths can be muddy and slippery at any time. A north directional compass bearing is indicated with a path guide on each board. There are interpretation boards at each of the six sections giving guidance, illustrations of wildlife and nearby places of interest. The Riverside Walk logo represents the characteristic oak trees and waterways of the walk. The walk is clearly signed in both directions. Look for the the way markers to guide your walk. Then the walk turns to the north towards Warnham Nature Reserve. Staying close to the Arun most of the way westward, the route passes the confluence with Boldings Brook. Going clockwise, the route follows Chennells Brook and later picks up the Horn Brook near Leechpool Woods.įrom here the walk continues south before meeting the River Arun just before Chesworth Farm. A suggested start of the walk is at Warnham Local Nature Reserve.
